Welcome to Kelsar Physical Therapy! Since 1990, we have strived to become one of the best facilities

specializing in manual therapy in Southeastern Connecticut. Manual therapy is a form of physical therapy

that specializes in the treatment of the individual in which the therapist uses primarily their hands.

Manual therapy focuses on restoring a three dimensional balance to the bodies skeletal, muscular,

and soft tissue structures such as ligaments, tendons and connective tissue or fascia.

Due to the ever changing needs of our patients, our therapists have studied and trained with experts

in North America and Europe on a continual basis. Our goal is to provide you with the most complete

and current concepts in health care so that we may assist you in your recovery/rehabilitation process.

Kelsar Physical Therapy was established in 1990 – after Diane Kane-Fournier, owner, found the need for manual therapy for a wide variety of needs – including, but not limited to, specialization in advanced and special needs patients. Kelsar clients are an extended family and are treated as such – improving lives through caring, listening and helping each person be their best.

Diane felt compelled to open a facility, with the generous assistance of friends, family and patients,  which focused on strong energy and true caring. She nurtures her clients and her light shines to help her patients find their true path to be the best they can be. She feels an immediate connection with her patients and it is tangible upon meeting her that she is a caring healer. Her facilities are 'different' according to her patients who feel the 'care in the air.'

The therapists are a collective who share patients, and work together to find the best therapeutic practices for each patient. It is all one-on-one and very customized for each individual. Collectively they have over 75 years of experience in manual therapy. and are focused on strong healing, energy and true caring with intensive manual therapy on a personalized, individualized basis.

Diane took her first CranioSacral class in 1988 after her second daughter was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. She was immediately taken with the theory and techniques. She was fortunate enough, over the years, to study directly with Drs. Upledger and Barral of the Upledger Institute in Florida. Once she began the three-dimensional study of the whole person, she opened Kelsar Physical Therapy in 1990 to offer a place for patients - as well as therapists - to experience a gentler, softer and more complete delivery of physical therapy services. She has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and France on her passionate path of learning.

Her love of exercise and movement led to her study of pilates, yoga, somatics and therapeutic exercise. In France, she was initiated into the aromatherapy essential oil practice by a registered aromatherapist. She combines her manual work with these other modalities for an integrative approach. Diane works with traditional , allopathic physicians as well as naturopaths, acupuncturists, massage therapists, chiropractors and other health care professionals.

Diane's special interests include working with women who are expecting, and giving special  care during pregnancy.
