Pilates is a form of exercise that was developed by a German named Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It is the art of controlled movements of the body while maintaining a central core stability. Pilates improves flexibility,  builds strength, and develops control and endurance in the entire body. The emphasis is on alignment, lengthening, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. The Pilates system uses different exercises to address the individuals needs with modifications at all levels of experience, and overtime the body conditions and adapts to the exercise.
